The program combines daily activities, awareness-raising on the benefits of walking, cycling, and public transport, and special highlights aimed at youth. Among other events, Thursday, September 17, will feature the event <em>\"Youth, Catch the Rhythm of Sustainable Mobility!\"<\/em>on Pre\u0161eren Square from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which will continue at BAZA, the Ljubljana Youth Center. Organizers will also use the occasion to highlight the safe use of e-scooters and the proper use of the city's more than 100 dedicated parking zones for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Street Closures and a Bustling Weekend Vibe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the campaign, numerous streets and squares will be closed to motor traffic and transformed into venues for social and recreational events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thursday, September 17 (3:00 PM \u2013 10:00 PM):<\/strong> The access road to the Sever garages at Ambro\u017eev trg 3 will be closed for the \"Sustainable Afterparty for Youth\" event. <em>Trajnostni afterparty za mlade<\/em> bo zaprta dovozna cesta za Severjeve gara\u017ee na Ambro\u017eevem trgu 3.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saturday, September 19 (7:30 AM \u2013 10:30 PM):<\/strong> The \"Vo\u0161njakovanje\" event <em>will take<\/em> place, closing Vo\u0161njakova ulica from Hotel Lev to Dvorakova ulica.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sunday, September 20:<\/strong> Major city locations will be closed\u2014from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM <em>Poljanska cesta between Peglezen and Ulica Janeza Pavla II)<\/em> from 8:00 AM to 20:00 PM for \"Green City Stara \u0160i\u0161ka\" (Medvedova ulica between Frankopanska and \u017dibertova ulica), and from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM for \"Verov\u0161kova Fest - Street for People\" (Verov\u0161kova ulica between Gasilska cesta and Drenikova ulica). <em>Zeleno mesto Stara \u0160i\u0161ka<\/em> (Medvedova med Frankopansko in \u017dibertovo ulico) ter med 11. in 19. uro <em>Verov\u0161kova fest &#8211; Ulica za ljudi<\/em> (Verov\u0161kova ulica med Gasilsko cesto in Drenikovo ulico).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tuesday, September 22:<\/strong> Zapore za prireditve vklju\u010dujejo <em>Jesenski triatlon vrtca Mi\u0161kolin<\/em> (makadamski odsek v Zalogu), izobra\u017eevalno-gibalni poligon na delu \u010crtomirove ulice in gibalno zabavo na Eipprovi ulici.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Free Public Transport on Car-Free Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The highlight of the week will take place next Tuesday, Car-Free Day on September 22, 2026, when the use of Ljubljana Passenger Transport (LPP) buses on city lines within Zone 1 will be entirely free of charge, along with P+R parking lots. Throughout the week, the City Municipality will also provide free bus transportation to EMW events for all kindergartens and primary schools within the municipality. Additionally, city officials note the long-term goal of transitioning the LPP fleet to zero-emission mobility by 2030, supported this year by new investments in electric and hydrogen-powered buses.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Ljubljana officially kicks off the 25th European Mobility Year (EMW) today with a rich program of events.
